What do you guys think? I know this is just wishful thinking and it's doubtful that this thread will ever reach Pokémon Card Lab in the first place, but still. Plus, no other Special Condition does this, so it would be a unique way to potentially make Burn about as viable as the others. This would be a nice little reference to the video games, in which being Burned cuts your Attack stat in half. Here's my idea: on top of the coin-flip damage, a Burned Pokémon's attacks do something like 20 less damage (before applying Weakness and Resistence). Is Burn doomed to be phased out of the card game? If so, I think it's time to change the condition, because I don't want it to disappear it's bad enough that Freeze never got represented because it'd be too similar to Sleep or Paralysis.
#Burn dmg pokemon series#
It seem that Pokémon Card Lab has caught on to this, because in the entire XY Series (and by extension, the Standard format), we don't have a single card that can inflict Burn. That flip essentially makes it a less reliable Poison, and because of that, Burn has almost never been relevant in competitive play in fact, the only time I recall it ever being relevant is through Blaziken FB's Luring Flame, and that was only for leaving Claydol stuck and unable to use Cosmic Power.

This status condition does 20 damage in between turns. For the most part, Special Conditions can be very crippling and disruptive, and could even turn the tide of a match.īut then there's Burn. So we all know about the Special Conditions in this game, made to mimic status ailments in the video games.
